Eric Holowacz

Sedona Arts Center + Sedona Summer Colony
Executive Director + Founder
Eric Holowacz is a cultural engineer who has spent the past 25 years triangulating artists, audiences, and communities. In the past decade, he has founded two 21st century American artist residency organizations, The Studios of Key West and the brand new Sedona Summer Colony. He began his career in the 1990s at the South Carolina Arts Commission and then Spoleto Festival, and has since worked on a more global level as general director of Cairns Festival in Australia and as Arts Programs and Services Manager for the City of Wellington, New Zealand. There he helped plan and activate Toi Poneke/Wellington Arts Center, a creative facility dedicated to contemporary cultural production and urban community arts. He has also lived in a Trappist monastery, managed an alternative rock band, established an artists’ retreat on a barrier island in the Atlantic Ocean, and studied poetry and prosody with James Dickey.
