Courtland Longest is a product management and marketing leader who has spent the last decade in the precision medicine space. During that time, he has focused on discovering, building, and commercially launching precision medicine tests that oncologists use to treat their patients more precisely. These have included live-cell chemosensitivity tests, molecular biomarker tests, and proprietary multi-gene “signatures” that predict a patient’s risk of cancer recurrence. Courtland joined UPMC Enterprises in fall 2015 and serves as the Director of Product for Precision Medicine. He is excited by the potential to create new products and companies that leverage the large UPMC’s large patient population, clinical expertise, and significant genomics and machine learning capabilities.

Courtland earned his BA in philosophy and political science from the University of Pittsburgh Honors College and his MBA with a specialization in technology commercialization from the University of Central Florida. He’s a former electronic music DJ (before it went mainstream in the ‘90s) and still enjoys producing music as well as flying 3D RC helicopters, much to his wife’s dismay.
